American musician Taalib Johnson, better known under the pseudonym Musiq Soulchild, was born in 1977 in Pennsylvania. Musiq Soulchild was raised in a large family and he had always been notable for his daring character and wish to do everything in his own way. Thereby the future singer did not finish school, while at seventeen he left his home. During that difficult period of life Musiq Soulchild got truly involved into the art and managed to establish a reputation of an incredibly talented musician. It is worth mentioning that many genres were interesting for the young singer: beatbox, a capella and various improvisations. It was not a rare thing for Musiq Soulchild to perform in Philadelphia streets. There is no doubt that such kind of experience played a great role in Johnson’s development as a musician.

Thus, step by step Musiq Soulchild was approaching to his style, and a bit later he decided to try his skills in studio work. The release of his debut album Aijuswanaseing took place in 2000. Numerous music lovers enjoyed both the musical content and the very appearance of Aijuswanaseing. Orthographical freedom had become a permanent component of the artist’s creativity: two years later he issued another long play titled Juslisen (2002). In 2003 that work was nominated for Grammy in the category Best R&B Album – great proof of the fact that the musician’s efforts were not in vain. Platinum Juslisen was followed by not less interesting Soulstar (2003) and Luvanmusiq (2007). The latter, by the way, managed to repeat the success of Juslisen by peaking at the very top of main Billboard chart and its subdivision chart of R&B and Hip-Hop albums.

The singer’s fifth studio attempt titled OnMyRadio saw the light in 2008. The long play was created in Musiq Soulchild’s signature style, and some special charm was added due to some tracks, recorded jointly with Damian Marley and Mary J. Blige. It is quite notable that the manner of writing that had been presented by Musiq Soulchild on his very first album did not go anywhere: compositions got such names as iwannabe, ifuleave, dearjohn and no other way. Three years later the artist presented to all the listeners his newest work MusiqInTheMagiq (2011). Probably no one has questions about quality of that album as soon as Musiq Soulchild proved to his fans that music had always been very significant for him. The artist is famous for his serious approach to the creative process, however he never forgets about feelings and emotions, which are definitely the necessary elements of music. MusiqInTheMagiq became a logical continuation of Musiq Soulchild’s ideas, and it is clear as a day that the musician is moving forward. He keeps on looking for a new sound, but at the same time his signature style is still easy recognizable and can be hardly mixed up with someone else’s.
